    Hello,
I recently got involved with the DonMillsFriends.org
Any possibility that we could speak about your possible involvement?

    Paul Zanettos,

My name is Michael Lehan - I’m a graduate journalism student at Ryerson University, and a Don Mills resident. I’m working on a story for my print reporting class about the Cadillac Fairview plans and the Ontario Municipal Board decision process.

I caught your decision to join the Friends of Don Mills on your blog. To be frank, I’m skeptical of their ability to act in the best interests of Don Mills’ wider community, but I’m sympathetic to the reasons you listed for joining.

I’d like to talk to you sometime this week about the development and you involvement with Friends of Don Mills.

    Regards,
    Michael Lehan

Hey Paul, it’s been quite some time. I hope all is well. Nice blog. Now that I’ve found it I’ll make sure to visit it regularly.

Let me know the next time you are in NYC, it’ll be good to catch up.

“As a resident of Don Mills, a residential neighbourhood located about 12 kilometres north-east of central Toronto, I must say that I’m a little disappointed by the lack of interest young, design-savvy families have in this community.”

Count me not one of those! I haven’t seen anyone come to my door nor have I heard much about what is going on and where except from my neightbors. I’m on Southill right next to what’s happening and I’m not so happy. Please contact me.

Don’t forget the low hanging frult, Paul! The CN Tower has been reinvented as a sweat shop produced novelty homage to Lucky Charms and not even a quick comment huh? Oh well. Can’t knock a guy for being busy.

I think it goes without saying that this fails to live up to your post about the desperate need for visionary brilliance in this city. Baby steps I suppose.

I guess Cadillac Fairview’s kicking themselves for not realizing all they had to do to freshen up the Don Mills Centre is leave the Christmas lights on all year.

Hey Woody - Low-hanging fruit? There’s just so much! Have any migrant workers you can hook me up with? On the Don Mills Centre front, I’m quite impressed with the sketches that were released last week. It doesn’t look half bad! I’ll write something up on that shortly. Also looking to do something quick on the World House (www.worldhouse.ca). Lots of cool stuff going on, despite all the crap we see — and hear — around us. Stay tuned.

They do look quite good…they’ve posted street level diagrams. Interestingly I’ve heard through the grapevine that the plans for the towers have not even gone to the City yet. The zoning for teh site is split north-south. The EAST portion allows for 6meter higher dwelling (8 stoies is the max for the rest of the property I believe). Ergo the towers should be along Don Mills…however they’re being built/proposed along Donway - oops.

How about about we start getting that 500 person petition realigned so we can ask the councillors for speed bumps. After they chop the towers down by about 20 stories ;).

I see some children beign run over some day. Ours street sees some drivers doing 50 and many drive right through our stop signs already.

    Cheers.
